Weekly Watch Focus: Pentecost

FRIDAY, June 10, 2011. As the early believers were in one place in one accord, God poured out His Holy Spirit. This was the birth of the Church. It was the full demonstration of the first Pentecost that took place when the Lord came down in glory on the third day at Sinai. The tongues of fire that rested on the disciples in Jerusalem are an ongoing demonstration of God’s indwelling glory and power in His Church today.

We are the third day Church, and God wants to send fresh fire upon each one of us individually and corporately in this hour. We see in the book of Joel that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is a key to restoration of a nation – morally, culturally and economically. Let us cry out for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit across the United States and every other nation. May we know outpouring as in the days of Finney and the Azusa revival. Pray for a fresh Pentecostal revival with signs, wonders and miracles so that the Gospel would be proclaimed throughout the world in power. May we, our children and grandchildren be refreshed in the Holy Spirit and serve the God of Israel.

Acts 2:17-18, 38-39, “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.’ Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.’”

Acts 10:44-46, “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.”

Zech. 10:1, “Ask rain from the LORD in the season of the spring rain, from the LORD who makes the storm clouds, and He will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field.”

Exodus 19:16,19, “On the morning of the third day there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled. Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God…The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.”
