Weekly Watch Focus: Open Heaven for Revival and National Awakening

Friday, January 27, 2017—First of all, we offer thanks for a safe, God-honoring Presidential inauguration last Friday, January 20th when President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were inaugurated. We are truly grateful that prayers in the name of Jesus Christ played a major role during this ceremony watched by millions across the world.

An inaugural prayer breakfast was held at the Trump International Hotel early Friday morning. Bonnie and I were invited to participate. Because of a previous commitment to minister in Minnesota, I could not go, but Bonnie was there to represent us and all watchmen-intercessors around the globe. 

During the ceremony, Rev. Franklin Graham pointed out that God was giving a prophetic sign that day when a soft, gentle rain started falling from the sky. He remarked, “Mr. President, in the Bible, rain is a sign of God’s blessing—and it started to rain, Mr. President, when you came to the platform.” Rev. Graham then proclaimed from the podium—"There is one God and one Mediator between God and mankind, the Man Christ Jesus." 

Rabbi Marvin Hier prayed, “Eternal God, bless President Donald J. Trump and America, our great nation. Guide us to remember the words of the psalmist, 'Who may dwell on your holy mountain? One who does what is right and speaks the truth…. Bless all of our allies around the world who share our beliefs. By the rivers of Babylon, we wept as we remembered Zion. If I forget thee O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.'” 

We sensed that January 20th was a significant day, marking a great shift in this nation’s history, leading toward a new era of revival and national awakening. That gentle rain at the inauguration reminded me of God’s promise in Joel 2:23, “He has poured down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month.”

When God opens the heavens, His rain of revival comes. Let us therefore thank God for a new season of an open heaven over America and every other nation hungry to see His salvation and glory in this hour.

May God release a new era of His revival rain with signs and miracles. We pray for a wave of His Spirit bringing millions of souls to repentance, salvation, and baptism in God’s Holy Spirit. May a national awakening be stirred from coast to coast.

May the Spirit of Christ fall over our cities, just as in the days of Charles Finney, when people nearing the city limits where he was holding a meeting would get immersed in God’s cloud of glory.

Pray that every church in America be filled to capacity day after day with hungry souls. Let us see even greater visitation than the days of Whitefield, Finney, Oral Roberts, and A.A. Allen.
May fresh waves of healings, miracles, and mass deliverances be common across the land. May the chains of addiction, violence, and poverty be broken. Whether it be Charlotte, Chicago, Baltimore, or Miami, may God’s glory arise. May all our children and grandchildren serve the Lord Jesus Christ. May the Spirit of Awakening and Revival spread to every hungry nation.
