Weekly Watch Focus: Jesus is Lord: A Season to Fast and Pray

FRIDAY, January 4, 2013
We are beginning the new year with a season of fasting and repentance, declaring the Lordship of Jesus over 2013. We put a prayer covering over our children, our church, our city, and nation for His new year. We welcome the presence of the Holy Spirit to go with us, giving us protection, provision, and harvest. We give thanks in faith for victory, safety, healing, and harvest throughout 2013.

Ezra 8:21-23  “Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, ‘The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.’ So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.”

2 Chron. 7:14 "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

Acts 2:17 “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.”

Ps. 91:9-11 "Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways."

Phil. 4:19 "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

We remember fellow believers who are oppressed and tortured for Christ’s sake. In communist China, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and other parts of the word, violent radicals or oppressive communism continue to persecute and even murder Christians.
We thank God and pray for our law enforcement. We ask the Lord for their safety and guidance as the carry out their duties with integrity.
As our children return to school, we cover them in prayer. Whether they attend public school, private school, home school, or college, we pray a special anointing over them.
There is a declaration of war in our culture against the identity of our children. Our foundational values and the preservation of identity for individuals and families through Christ as the building block of society is under attack.
Pray for financial recovery from what many economists are calling a recession. We humbly pray for a healthy economy and that integrity would be restored in leadership.
