Weekly Watch Focus:  Memorial Day

FRIDAY, May 23, 2014, As we honor our veterans this Memorial Day weekend, let us focus on the emerging scandal at the Veterans Administration, where reports show many of the medical facilities run by the VA have had substantial delays in veterans’ treatment. Some of the uncovered cases show veteran’s waiting for months, resulting in many preventable deaths. Pray that Congress will have insight and clarity in correcting this tragic situation. Our veterans have been willing to pay the highest price so that we may live in liberty.

Let us humbly salute all those who have fought and even died to preserve our freedom. We continue to cover in prayer all our armed forces presently serving. May the Lord of Hosts guard those in harm’s way. May their families feel our love and support and receive our thanks. We also honor all the allied armed forces that have served alongside our sons and daughters these many years.

John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Ps. 20, “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion; may He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah. May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call.”

Is. 61:1-3, Ps. 46:1-3; Ps. 109:4

We remember fellow believers who are oppressed and tortured for Christ’s sake. In communist China, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and other parts of the word, violent radicals or oppressive communism continue to persecute and even murder Christians.
We thank God and pray for our law enforcement. We ask the Lord for their safety and guidance as the carry out their duties with integrity.
As our children return to school, we cover them in prayer. Whether they attend public school, private school, home school, or college, we pray a special anointing over them.
There is a declaration of war in our culture against the identity of our children. Our foundational values and the preservation of identity for individuals and families through Christ as the building block of society is under attack.
Pray for financial recovery from what many economists are calling a recession. We humbly pray for a healthy economy and that integrity would be restored in leadership.
