Weekly Watch Focus:  Celebrate Pentecost

FRIDAY, June 6, 2014, Let us rise up to celebrate Pentecost, the birthday of the Church. According to Acts 2, God poured out the Holy Spirit on His new covenant people, birthing the community of those who follow Jesus and spread the gospel of the kingdom with power. Let us welcome with joy and thanksgiving the Third Person of the Trinity. The outpoured Spirit is the culmination of Jesus’ finished work at Calvary.

Pentecost is one of God’s appointed Feasts in the Old Testament, marking the beginning of Harvest-season. The blood moons occurring this year and next at the exact days of the Feast of Passover and Tabernacles underlines that this is a unique season. Let us ask for a mighty outpouring of the precious and wonderful Holy Spirit across the nations. May He give us a great harvest of souls, and a moral awakening in our nation. May He pull down demonic strongholds across the U.S. and the globe. Cry out, “Holy Spirit come in this hour with mighty signs and wonders!” May the awesome rushing wind and fire transform, cleanse, empower, and renew His Church. May we commit to treasure the Holy Spirit whom Father and Son honor. In this season let us give attention to bless the widows, orphans, and the poor.

Acts 2:17-21, “‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath:blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’”

Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 2:4,28; Exod. 19:1; John 16:7; Jer. 31:31-34; Ezek. 36:25-27; Lev. 23:22; Deut. 16:1-12
