Weekly Watch Focus: Father's Day

FRIDAY, June 13, 2014 Jesus came to redeem us from sin and reveal our Heavenly Father (Matt. 11:27). The Apostles’ Creed begins with, “I believe in God, the Father Almighty.” As we observe Father’s Day, may we first honor and worship our Father God. Let us also honor our natural and spiritual fathers and mothers. Let us pray for restoration and healing of broken family relationships. We want to repent for the denigration of fatherhood and the lessening of our honor for our Founding Fathers who treasured Judeo-Christian principles.

Eph. 6:1-3, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’”

Eph. 4:4-6, “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

Mal 4:5,6, “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

Ps. 68:5, “A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation.”

Deut. 1:29-31, Prov. 23:24

Pray for Iraq

There is an urgent need to pray for Iraq, as Al-Qaeda inspired terrorists have captured vast portions of the Sunni heartland, including Mosul and Tikrit. 4,486 American soldiers died to free Iraq from Saddam Hussein’s despotism. Now the country is in crisis as it is being overcome by violent, cruel, extreme Islamic terrorist forces. Cry out for the safety of the innocent Iraqis and for the defeat of the terrorists.

Ps. 27:2-5, “When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.”

2 Kings 13:17, “And he said, ‘Open the east window’; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, ‘Shoot’; and he shot. And he said, ‘The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them.’”

Ps. 91:11, “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”

We remember fellow believers who are oppressed and tortured for Christ’s sake. In communist China, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and other parts of the word, violent radicals or oppressive communism continue to persecute and even murder Christians.
We thank God and pray for our law enforcement. We ask the Lord for their safety and guidance as the carry out their duties with integrity.
As our children return to school, we cover them in prayer. Whether they attend public school, private school, home school, or college, we pray a special anointing over them.
There is a declaration of war in our culture against the identity of our children. Our foundational values and the preservation of identity for individuals and families through Christ as the building block of society is under attack.
Pray for financial recovery from what many economists are calling a recession. We humbly pray for a healthy economy and that integrity would be restored in leadership.
