Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for Prisoners

FRIDAY, Jun 27, 2014. Our nation has one of the highest prison populations in the world. Many inmates are the tragic product of a largely fatherless generation. Pray for Holy Spirit revival to sweep across prisons in America. Pray for strength and encouragement for all men and women crying out for the Lord, that they may come to know their Heavenly Father.

In many prisons, men and women who have come to the Lord are leading others to Christ, discipling fellow inmates, and being a light for those sitting in darkness. Some are leading Watches in their prison. Pray that the Lord will strengthen and encourage these men and women, anointing them to minister in power to those around them. Pray for deliverance to come for those who are oppressed by drugs and addictions. Ask the Lord to strengthen prison ministries that are reaching out to this population. We believe there is a coming visitation that will sweep through America’s prisons. Pray for a great move of God that will turn our prison system into centers of soul winning and intercession, and set every captive free from the bonds of darkness through Jesus Christ. If you know specific people in the correctional system, pray for them by name.
We just received a letter last week from a precious lady in prison whom God has touched through this ministry. She is leading others to Christ and a light for others. She writes:

It has been several days now since I read your book about fasting and praying. After I began to read the book, my life began to take a huge turn, and I decided to fast as I felt my heart directed me to do and God told me to do. Not as a fast for show, out of obligation or necessity, but to take one day a week to fast and pray as a part of my life as something very special and personal between me and God. I have never found a book to read like your book on fasting and praying and God brought it to me…As a result of my fasting and praying the way you described in your book, beautiful things are happening to me and I am sharing them with others. A staff member at the prison accepted Christ into her heart! I ask for your prayers for us as we share and impart the Word to each one of the other inmates and for the Lord to birth more beautiful things in our lives and theirs…Please pray for Maribel, Leoba, Concepsion, Antonio, Elizabeth.

Let us pray for these women and ask the Lord for a great harvest among the thousands of men and women in our prisons.

Ps. 102:18-21, “This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD. For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from heaven the LORD viewed the earth, to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to release those appointed to death, to declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem.”

Matt. 25:34-36, “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’”
