Weekly Watch Focus:
The Advent: Watch for Glory
FRIDAY, December 11, 2015 – Lowly, humble shepherds keeping watch in the fields outside Bethlehem were the first ones to behold the Glory of the Lord announcing the birth of our Savior.
Luke 2:9-14, “And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: you will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’”
The advent of Christ was accompanied by watching shepherds and the angels worshipping and praising. May this advent season see watchmen rising in every city, and nation, and church, worshipping, praising, and interceding in unison, declaring the Glory of the King of Kings.
The nations are truly in turmoil, riven with the wars in the Middle-East, the rise of Islamic Jihadist terrorism, and a flood of refugees. This is a time for proclamation, intercession, united worship, grace and mercy. May we arise to watch over our families, cities, and nation. Let us also watch over Israel. Pray for ongoing protection for our cities. Cover in prayer our pastors, watch captains and missionaries.
May all our families experience the wonder, favor, and blessing of this beautiful Advent season of hope.
Isa. 60: 1-2, “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.”
Luke 1:35, “ And the angel answered and said to her, ’The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.’”
Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
