Weekly Watch Focus: Freedom from Opioid Addiction

FRIDAY, February 7, 2020— “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:15).

For the first time in decades, the CDC is reporting significant progress in combating the opioid crisis that has crippled our nation. Substance abuse touches all regions, demographics, and corners of society, with the nation’s death rate from opioid overdoses surpassing total deaths from homicides and car accidents combined.

Thank the Lord that the tide is turning on this crisis. Bind the spirit of addiction. Pray for a fresh wave of deliverance to set individuals and regions free. Pray healing for the thousands of hurting families, and communities devastated by addiction. Pray specifically to break this stronghold. Pray for federal and local law enforcement to apprehend those involved in drug trafficking. May the Lord help them break the power of the drug cartels. Pray federal and state agencies to have wisdom to set policies in place that will help eradicate this deadly cycle and restore those bound to opiates.

Part 2: Plead the Blood of Jesus over Coronavirus

Pray against the coronavirus epidemic that continues to spread across China and pose a threat to other nations. According to Exodus 12, as the blood of the Passover Lamb shielded the Israelites from destruction in Egypt, let the blood of Jesus Christ shield us from all forms of this virus and infection. Aggressively apply the Blood of the Lamb over this epidemic. Pray for the spread to halt and the virus to die out. Pray for mercy for China, and healing for all those who are affected. Declare over all our households, that no plague can touch any member of our family.

Jeremiah 31:16-17, “Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope in your future, says the Lord, that your children shall come back to their own border.”

Psalm 91:1-3, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’ Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.”
Exodus 15:26, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”
