Watch Focus: The Invasion of Ukraine - Pray for Peace

2 Samuel 22:3-4, “The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.”

Wednesday night, February 23rd, Russian military forces invaded Ukraine. Some cities and sites in Ukraine are being bombarded and many civilians are attempting to flee various regions. Governments are readying responses, some military and some diplomatic or economic. Global financial markets are being shaken as a result of the crises. Many, unsure how to reverse the action and bring a peace, fear this may spark a larger global conflict.

Psalm 32:7, “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”

In the midst of these nations in turmoil and conflict, we echo the prayer of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, “For we have no power against this great multitude, nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.” God’s answer was simple, “Do not be afraid nor dismayed…position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you.” Then the praisers lifted their voices with loud praise, declaring the Lord’s great mercies. When they worshiped and sang His praises, God sent His victory, defeating the enemy multitudes.

Let us turn our eyes to the Lord on behalf of those involved in this conflict, those who are suffering and will suffer as a result. In the face of this shadow, we declare, “Emmanuel, God with us, in Your mercy, come and save. All the nations are Yours, King of kings, Lord of lords.” We ask for peace for Ukraine and Russia. We ask for protection for civilians. We pray that peace be restored. Bring forth righteous leaders in the region and give them wisdom. Let the wicked or corrupt who seek to harm nations or bring war be pulled down. We bind back any demonic forces that hold the people of Russia and Ukraine in bondage. Uncover and destroy evil plans. Preserve innocent life, Lord. Have mercy.

We especially pray for the church and for Christians in Ukraine and in Russia. Anoint them and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. We agree and appoint angels to guide them and protect them. We pray for the Spirit of revival to sweep across the whole region. Signs, wonders, and miracles be done in Jesus’ name!

Psalm 138:7, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.”

Psalm 149:6-9, “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute on them the written judgment— this honor have all His saints. Praise the Lord!”

Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Psalm 107:6,7, “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.”

Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them,”

Eph. 6:12 (Amp), “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

2 Chronicles 20:21, “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures Forever!”

Psalm 86:13, “For great is Your mercy toward me, and You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.”

Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”

Psalm 33:10-11, “The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.”

Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Psalm 121:6-8, “Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies.”

We remember fellow believers who are oppressed and tortured for Christ’s sake. In communist China, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and other parts of the word, violent radicals or oppressive communism continue to persecute and even murder Christians.
We thank God and pray for our law enforcement. We ask the Lord for their safety and guidance as the carry out their duties with integrity.
As our children return to school, we cover them in prayer. Whether they attend public school, private school, home school, or college, we pray a special anointing over them.
There is a declaration of war in our culture against the identity of our children. Our foundational values and the preservation of identity for individuals and families through Christ as the building block of society is under attack.
Pray for financial recovery from what many economists are calling a recession. We humbly pray for a healthy economy and that integrity would be restored in leadership.
