Weekly Watch Focus: Syria

FRIDAY, April 13, 2012. Syria has been in turmoil for months. Thousands of civilians have been killed or injured as a rebellion has arisen to overthrow the dictatorial regime of Bashir al Assad. Thousands of refugees are streaming into Turkey. Syria is an ally of Iran, and a supporter of Hezbollah and other terror organizations threatening Israel, its enemy and neighbor. Pray for God’s protection for the innocents across that land. May the U.S. have wisdom in whether to intervene militarily. Pray for God’s continued shield over Israel. May peace be restored to this land.

Acts 9:3-4, “As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’”

Is. 19:23-25, “In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, ‘Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.’”

Eph. 6:12 (Amp), “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”
