Weekly Watch Focus: Mother's Day—A Time to Honor
FRIDAY, May 9, 2013 As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us give specific thanks for our parents, as well as spiritual parents that bless and teach us. For a long and blessed life, God’s word instructs us to honor our parents and elders. Society thrives in a culture of honor, according to this word. Let us reject and repent of values that worship at the altar of youth and disrespect the elderly and the unborn. As mothers release fresh blessings on children and grandchildren, may God heal broken family relationships and usher in a season of healing and restoration.
Eph 6:2, “’Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise.”
Mal 4:5-6, “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
Ex. 20:12, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.”
2 Tim. 1:5 “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.”
