Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for Kenya

Friday, Sept 27, 2013 Friday, Sept 27, 2013 Last weekend extreme Islamic terrorists from the Al Shabab movement in Somalia took over the Westgate Mall in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. By present count, they killed 72 innocent civilians, wounding hundreds more. There were many children killed by the terrorists, who released all who claimed to be Muslims unharmed. Kenya is a majority Christian nation, and a faithful ally of the U.S. and Britain in its fight against Islamic terrorism. It also is a friend of Israel, counting on Israel’s counsel for its security.

Pray for God’s grace and peace for the nation of Kenya. May its leaders be guided by the Lord in the midst of this tragedy.  May Kenya have victory over terrorism, and may God give revival and prosperity to this faithful friend and ally of the U.S. and Israel.

We also pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in Pakistan. Last week’s double suicide bombing while Christians were worshiping on Sunday resulted in 82 deaths. Pray for believers in Pakistan and other Islamic nations that are under continuous persecution and threat of obliteration.

Matt 5:10,12, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Ps. 18:37, “I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them; neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed.”

Ps. 27:2-5, “When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.”

Deut. 20:4; Ps. 91:11
