Weekly Watch Focus: Zika Virus
FRIDAY, Jun 3, 2016, There is rising concern about the possible spread of the Zika virus from Latin American nations to the U.S. and other nations. There are even suggestions to cancel the Summer Olympics in Brazil, fearing that thousands of athletes from around the world may get infected and carry it back to their nations.
The Zika virus is spread by the Aedes mosquito. The biggest concern is the virus during pregnancy can result in babies being born with underdeveloped brains. This week a mother gave birth to a baby in NYC with birth defects from the Zika virus. Bind back the spread of the Zika virus. Pray that this disease will be contained and eliminated.
