Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for Louisiana & Italy

FRIDAY, August 26, 2016—Pray for the people recovering from the devastating floods in Louisiana. Declared the worst catastrophe since hurricane Sandy, the widespread flooding has resulted in thirteen lives lost and damaged over forty-thousand homes. Pray for those who have suffered loss of life and homes. Thank the Lord for the thousands of volunteers and the “Cajun Navy” who have mobilized to help the people of Louisiana in this crisis. May the Lord bless and strengthen them. Pray also for Christian organizations like Samaritan’s Purse who are providing emergency aid and disaster relief. We ask for turn-around and restoration for region. May the waters recede and dry up quickly.
We also remember those affected by the widespread fires in Southern California. Bless the firefighters and pray for their protection and strength as they work to contain the blazes. Pray comfort, strength and healing for the families who have lost their homes and property.

Part 2: Please pray for the people of Italy following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck central Italy on August, 24. The powerful quake demolished whole areas, turning towns into rubble, and  and left at least 247 people dead.

Pray for the search and rescue teams combing the rubble for survivors. Pray for protection from further aftershocks. May the God of all comfort surround every family who has lost loved ones and homes.

Is. 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”

Psalm 32:6-7, “For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Psalm 74:15-16, “You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up mighty rivers. The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.”

Psalm 60:1b,2, “Oh, restore us again! You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.”
