Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for Our Neighbor, Mexico

FRIDAY, May 19, 2017—According to latest figures, Mexico is now considered the second-most dangerous nation in the world. Mexico is now more dangerous than Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Only Syria is at present considered a more deadly zone for violence based on data from the International Institute for Strategic Studies. The murder rate in Mexico has sky- rocketed due to drug-related violence that has resulted in 5,775 murders in just the first quarter of 2017 alone. This is a 29% increase over 2016 and the trend continues. Last year there were 23,000 homicides due to ongoing drug wars and cartel violence.

Mexico has the fifteenth highest GDP according to the World Bank. Let us pray for our neighbor, Mexico. Pray for its law enforcement and military forces that are involved in trying to restore law, order, and peace in that beautiful country. Pray for an end to the corruption that adds great difficulty to the effort to defeat the drug lords. Pray for the safety of all the law-abiding people of Mexico. Bind the spirit of addiction and violence that runs through that nation and affects the United States, its neighbor. Pray for a great move of God in this nation. Pray for the rise of the believing churches in Mexico.

This week our nation honored our law-enforcement officers. President Trump addressed a large gathering to honor our police officers and those who have fallen in the line of duty. As we pray for law and order in Mexico, let us also uphold our law enforcement and pray for their protection.
