Weekly Watch Focus: Watch for Prisons and Prison Reform
FRIDAY, June 1, 2018—On May 22, the U.S. House passed a bill that would bring significant reforms to our federal prison system. Currently, the U.S. has one of the highest prison populations in the world. Many inmates are the tragic product of a largely fatherless generation. As we have just witnessed the miraculous deliverance of the three Korean-American prisoners from North Korea, pray for the same Spirit of deliverance to come for the thousands of incarcerated men and women in our prisons. Many have been in the criminal justice system since their youth and are bound by greater powers than the bars of their jail cells. We ask for Holy Spirit revival to sweep across prisons in America. We ask for fresh strategies and wisdom from heaven to bring reform to our current prison system. May the Lord bring restoration, strength, and encouragement for all men and women crying out for the Lord, that they may come to know their Heavenly Father. May all those coming out be prepared to lead a productive and blessed life outside of prison.
Many prisons, inspired by our Watch of the Lord, are holding Watches within their walls. Lift up the watch leaders. Pray that every prison will have a Watch, and that God will strengthen prison ministries that are reaching out to this population. We believe there is a coming revival that will sweep through America’s prisons turning our prison system into centers of soul winning and intercession, and setting every captive free from the bonds of darkness through Jesus Christ.
