Weekly Watch Focus: Venezuela in Crisis

FRIDAY, April 5, 2019—Venezuela is in crisis. Under the socialist regimes of Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro, a nation that in the 1950s was the wealthiest nation in South America with vast oil reserves has been driven into absolute poverty. Fifteen years of socialist policies has left people without food and medicine. Many have been reduced to scavenging garbage to feed their families. Power outages that last for days at a time have plunged Venezuela into darkness without access to clean water, food, or communications networks. Many Venezuelans have lost their lives to starvation, disease, and violence.

In January, the United States, Canada, Israel, Brazil, and several other nations have recognized opposition leader, Juan Guaido, as the legitimate leader of Venezuela in the wake of Venezuela’s disputed elections. Maduro has closed the border to block access of US humanitarian aid into the country and blamed most of the chaos on United States operatives. Last month, Russian forces landed in Venezuela to prop up dictator Nicholas Maduro’s socialist regime.

Please pray for God’s mercy for the people of Venezuela. Pray for the total defeat of this oppressive regime and for peace in this region. Bind back the Marxist philosophies ruling Venezuela. We ask, “God, restore freedom and prosperity. Lord, send revival and restoration for the people of Venezuela.”

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Ephesians 6:12 (AMP), “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

On this Labor Day weekend, we speak blessings upon the American worker and upon our economy. We pray for those seeking jobs or starting new businesses.
We remember fellow believers who are oppressed and tortured for Christ’s sake. In communist China, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and other parts of the word, violent radicals or oppressive communism continue to persecute and even murder Christians.
We thank God and pray for our law enforcement. We ask the Lord for their safety and guidance as the carry out their duties with integrity.
As our children return to school, we cover them in prayer. Whether they attend public school, private school, home school, or college, we pray a special anointing over them.
There is a declaration of war in our culture against the identity of our children. Our foundational values and the preservation of identity for individuals and families through Christ as the building block of society is under attack.
