Weekly Watch Focus: Memorial Day

FRIDAY, May 24, 2019—On this Memorial Day weekend, we set aside time to honor the U.S. men and women who lost their lives serving our country. We honor the many allied soldiers who fought and died by their sides. We salute them all. Let us continue to cover in prayer all our armed forces presently serving. May the Lord of Hosts cover and protect those in harm’s way in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world as they stand in the gap for our freedom. May they feel our love and support; may their families be blessed with provision and strength. We thank them and their families for their sacrifice. We also honor all those who sacrificed so much as our nation commemorates the 75th anniversary of D-Day on June 6th.

Part 2: Tornadoes in Missouri

A large and destructive tornado ripped through the Missouri capital, Jefferson City on Wednesday. It was one of more than thirty reported tornadoes that swept through Oklahoma, Missouri, and Illinois that has taken the lives of seven people and injured many more. Pray for all the rescue and emergency responders bringing assistance, searching for victims, and supporting the individuals and families dealing with the loss, grief, and damage wreaked by this storm. Pray for safety of those in this region as more storms roll in with risk of more damage and extensive flooding. Pray for all the families mourning the loss of loved ones. Bind the spirit of destruction and pray blessing, protection, peace, and supernatural deliverance from further tornadoes and disasters.

John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Psalm 20, “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion; may He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah. May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call.”

2 Corinthians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction.”

Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Mark 4:39, “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
