Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for Houston

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2019—Torrential rain has dumped more than 43 inches on Houston and surrounding areas as Tropical Storm Imelda moved into Texas. Four people have died and many others have flooded homes and businesses. First responders and volunteers rescued thousands from flooded homes. Pray for those who have suffered loss of life and homes. Thank the Lord for all those helping the people of Houston in this crisis. Pray for the waters to recede and protecting from further destruction in this region still recovering from devastating flooding from Hurricane Harvey just two years ago. We ask for the God of all comfort surround every family affected by this storm in His peace and presence.

Psalm 93:3-4, “The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea."

Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”  

Psalm 32:6-7, “For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”      

Psalm 74:15-16, “You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up mighty rivers. The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.”

Psalm 60:1b,2, "Oh, restore us again! You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; heal its breaches, for it is shaking."  

Psalm 46:1-3, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.”
