Weekly Watch Focus: Stop the Plague

Friday, February 28, 2020—Pray that God intervene and stop the spread of the coronavirus, halt its impact on the global supply chain, and bring peace and confidence amid public concern.

Throughout biblical narrative God is described as having power over plagues (the exodus plagues in Egypt, various crisis in the Davidic Kingdom, John’s revelation of Jesus in the end-time events on earth). In every case is God’s opportunity for people, cities, and nations to humble themselves in repentance and turning to God. We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and anointing on the Word of God and each of his servants in every place the virus and fear of it exists in order that these events create a great turning to the Lord Jesus in harvest of souls.

“So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped” (Numbers 16:47).

Lord Jesus Christ, as our High priest, through the power of your cross we plead, have mercy on the nations and stand between us and the coronavirus and stop this plague!
Isaiah 30:15, “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, ‘In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.’”

Acts 4:29-30, “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.”

Hosea 13:14, “I will deliver this people from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction?”

Part 2:  Locusts in East Africa

A biblically proportioned plague of locusts is sweeping areas of East Africa and Bahrain. Swarms of locusts that cover over 900 square miles are stripping vegetation and devastating crops. Pray for God’s mercy for East Africa and Bahrain. Pray for a strong wind to deliver this region from this plague and protect the land and economy from the devourer. Ask God for His divine intervention that will bring glory to His name before nations.

1 Kings 8:35-40, “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them, then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance. When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is; whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, when each one knows the plague of his own heart, and spreads out his hands toward this temple: then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men), that they may fear You all the days that they live in the land which You gave to our fathers.”
Joel 2:15-26?
