Weekly Watch Focus: Violence in Chicago & Other Key Cities

FRIDAY, July 24, 2020—Over the last few weeks, large numbers of people have been shot and killed in Chicago. The spike in violence has escalated with seventy people shot over the past weekend, and an additional fifteen shot at a funeral on Tuesday.  Spread a prayer blanket over Chicago and key cities such as Seattle, Minneapolis, Portland, Atlanta, Baltimore and others riven by widespread violence and lawlessness. Pray that peace will be restored and that the mayors of these cities will have wisdom to combat the forces that have allowed violence to rise unchallenged in their jurisdiction. Pray also for your city. Pray for the protection of law enforcement. Pray for the vulnerable neighborhoods in your area. Bind the spirit of murder and violence surging in our nation. Loose God’s angelic host to protect the innocent caught in the crossfire. Pray for revival to touch the heart of our nation and turn our people and our cities back to God.

Covid-19 Breakthrough

Continue to lift up the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. Pray that researchers will have quick and great success in finding a vaccine and treatments. Ask the Lord for wisdom and revelation for those seeking solutions. Bind back interference and roadblocks in the process. Thank the Lord that the mortality rate of this disease continues to fall as doctors and nurses have developed better treatment protocols. Pray for the end of this plague.

Jeremiah 29:7, “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”

Jeremiah 31:16-17, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope in your future, says the Lord, that your children shall come back to their own border.”

Colossians 2:15, “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”

2 Samuel 22:3-4, “The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;  my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge;  my Savior, You save me from violence. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.”

Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
