Weekly Watch Focus: The Fruit of the Spirit and Japan Earthquake and Tsunami

FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2011. As we are surrounded by turmoil—politically, economically and personally—it can tend to result in impatience, fear or isolation. God is challenging us to allow, even more aggressively, the fruit of the Spirit to flow freely through our lives. May all around us see the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Let us determine to be more aware of the world around us. Let us become more attentive to opportunities for releasing acts of kindness at home, at church and in our communities every day.

Gal 5:22 (NIV), “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

1 Cor. 13:4-7 (TM), “Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, doesn't have a swelled head, doesn't force itself on others, isn't always ‘me first,’ doesn't fly off the handle, doesn't keep score of the sins of others, doesn't revel when others grovel, takes pleasure in the lowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end. Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly.”

Please pray for the people of Japan following the devastating 9.8 earthquake and 33 foot tsunami. Pray for the victims, the recovery and protection from further powerful aftershocks.Pray that rescuers will be able to quickly find all survivors. Pray for the stabilization of the damaged Nuclear Power plants. Pray for the U.S. West Coast to be protected as the tsunami hits our coast lands.

Is. 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”

Psalm 60:1b,2, “Oh, restore us again! You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.”
